Hagerty Plus, through its affiliation with the Historic Vehicle Association , is a powerful advocate for the hobby, representing over 300,000 members as well as the interests of the larger collector community. When regulatory issues arise that may impact your rights as a collector, we offer the information you need to get involved. We represent the interests of collectors, report on issues and announce calls-to-action when needed. We have impacted proposed regulations on issues such as title and registration, emissions testing and scrappage. Hagerty’s Operation Ignite! youth programs

Hagerty’s Operation Ignite! is a suite of programs designed to grow the interest of the hobby among young people through interactive events such as Youth Judging, Youth Reporter Contest, Next Gen News and Kid Friendly Car Show Kit. Through Hagerty Operation Ignite! young people have hands-on experiences that help increase the education and enthusiasm for collector automobiles and boats. Youth Judging — Hagerty’s Youth Judging program provides youth the opportunity to learn firsthand about great cars and boats by getting up close to collector vehicles, meeting owners and learning the basics of judging. Young Judges are led by an adult guide through a car or boat show to select vehicles where they interact with owners and learn details and history of each. The Youth Judging program will be hosted at more than 70 automotive events and 30 collector boat events this year. Limited numbers of kits are available by request for groups wishing to include the program in their show.

Hagerty Driving Experience — According to the U.S. Department of Transportation, only 31% of 16-year-olds and 49% of 17-year-olds today have their driver’s licence. Also, less than 10% of all vehicles sold in the U.S. are equipped with manual transmissions. What will happen to our hobby if these trends continue?

Young adults (ages 16-25) now have the chance to drive collector cars, and more specifically, learn to properly drive those equipped with manual-transmissions, with the Hagerty Driving Experience.

Next Gen News — Next Gen News is the official newsletter of Hagerty Operation Ignite! and is designed to keep young enthusiasts up-to-date on the hobby, while also providing fun stuff to get them excited about cars and boats. This quarterly publication is available to youth ages 18 years and younger by request.

‘Car Kid’ Birthday Club–Operation Ignite! helps celebrate the birthdays of young car guys and gals by sending a special ‘car kid’ birthday card on their special day.
 
Kid Friendly Car Show Kit-- The Operation Ignite! Kid Friendly Car Show Kit is available to event coordinators to help make their collector car event more educational, entertaining and interactive for young enthusiasts. The kit includes printable resources such as a scavenger hunt, word games, trivia, Car Show Bingo and a ‘Pin the Licence Plate on the Classic’ game.
 
Kids and Classics Fun Kit— The Kids and Classics Fun Kit is a branch from the Kid Friendly Car Show Kit and includes fun and educational collector car-related resources for kids that will help make automotive events more exciting. Kits include a backpack, activity book, water bottle, paper car, newsletter, silicone tire tread wristband and other exciting items. A limited numbers of kits will be given out at select shows by Hagerty employees.
 
National Contests—Operation Ignite! hosts several contests throughout the year to help engage youth and provide them the opportunity to share their skills and be rewarded. Past contests have included Young Designers, Model Building and Youth Reporter.
