Affordable Classics

Index of collectible cars priced under $30k

Hagerty’s Affordable Classics Index continued the steady, consistent growth it has shown over the past four years with a modest 2 percent increase, and over the past five years it has grown more than any of Hagerty’s six other primary indices. It was also the only index to record an increase this time around, as all others either decreased or stayed still.

The 1967 Volkswagen Beetle followed up on a 7 percent increase in May with an even greater 13 percent jump this time, and the 1960 Camaro SS 350/300 grew an impressive 6 percent even as earlier (1967-69) Camaros either remained unchanged or dropped a few percent. Many of the market’s biggest gainers outside of the index, including many vintage trucks and SUVs along with sports and luxury cars, are also in the affordable sub-$40,000 bracket.
