  • I have 2 questions pertaining to my 1966 Impala. 1) On occasion, the starter just "clicks". If I crawl underneath and tap on the starter with a hammer, it will then start. Is this definitely a starter problem? Could it be the starter solenoid? I assume it is one of the two, and not how it is mounted? 2) The car is a convertible with an electric hydraulic pump opening system. The roof opens OK, but doesn't have enough "power" to close. It won't lift the convertible top up from the open/down position, without manual (people) helping it. Is there a hydraulic resourvior that could be low on fluid? You can hear the electric motor running, but the top just barely thinks about moving. Thoughts?

  • I put an electric fuel pump in place of the 1960 mechanical one. My Corvair has dual carburetors. Would a fuel pressure regulator be necessary? Do electric fuel pumps really pump that much? It runs fine as is without the regulator. I'm not quite sure whether to install an in-line regulator. Any advice?
