  • This Hagerty Plus member owns a set of original 1968 Magnesium wheels for his 1968 Camaro. He's wondering if they are safe to use or if there are any safety concerns. He indicated he has heard that these wheels can burn under certain circumstances – should he be concerned?

  • I've recently purchased a 1956 Jaguar XK140M. The paint and chassis are original but the interior and engine have been restored. At what point is a car no longer considered a "survivor"? Would the value be affected negatively if I decided to pursue a full restoration?

  • I have a 325 hp 396 with 18,000 miles. I also have a 375 hp 396 that has spun a bearing. The crank and block in the 375 hp are shot. Can I put the cam and solid lifters into the 325 hp motor? If so, can I use the 325 hp’s heads and rockers? What would the 375 hp heads do to the comp. ratio?

  • I have 2 questions pertaining to my 1966 Impala. 1) On occasion, the starter just "clicks". If I crawl underneath and tap on the starter with a hammer, it will then start. Is this definitely a starter problem? Could it be the starter solenoid? I assume it is one of the two, and not how it is mounted? 2) The car is a convertible with an electric hydraulic pump opening system. The roof opens OK, but doesn't have enough "power" to close. It won't lift the convertible top up from the open/down position, without manual (people) helping it. Is there a hydraulic resourvior that could be low on fluid? You can hear the electric motor running, but the top just barely thinks about moving. Thoughts?

  • I have a 1969 Mustang that I am restoring. It needs some rust repair on the rear fenders and a new paint job. Do you know of any good body shops in or around Colorado Springs, Colo., that do good work or specialize in restoration work? I do not want to just guess on a place for the work.

  • Do you know of any good products for polishing chrome? I was interested in Deep Finish Deep Chrome, but I think the company that made it went out of business. I’m also looking for a quality wax to go along with that. Thank you for your suggestions.

  • Is there a program or database to keep track of the parts used and labor one spends while restoring a car? Something that would keep a running total.
