As a claims adjuster, Kacy uses her classic car knowledge daily at Hagerty. With a degree in Automotive Restoration from McPherson college, she not only has the confidence to speak with repair facilities and appraisers, but truly understands what it takes, because she's actually worked on and restored a number of classic cars.
What's your favorite car memory?
Any of the magnificent college cruise nights I participated in. While in college, a small group of car guys and gals decided we needed to get out and enjoy the classics we were working on every day. So we started a weekly cruise night, where everyone was invited to come out and enjoy each other's company and revel in the nostalgia of these classics. I made some life-long friends during those nights. The group still gets together when we have the chance, and we still create new memories.
What's your dream car?
It would be easy to easy to ramble off a number of muscle cars, early luxury sedans or modern sports cars that I'd love, but I'd have to say my dream car would be one of the two 1930 Ford Model As parked in my parents' garage. Nothing would make me smile more than being able to continue the family story of these two classics. My father and uncle bought them from local farmers in Kansas – where I grew up – and actually drove them through college. My father has memories of redoing the upholstery with his father. My goal is to create some wonderful memories with my father and get them back on the road again.
Classic cars remind us where we've come from and what we can accomplish."
Why are cars important?
Classic cars remind us where we've come from and what we can accomplish. Everyone has a great memory of their first car or the first time they saw a specific sports car. What really makes you stare and admire these cars? Is it the styling, the mechanical advances, or even the memories? I think that what makes classics important is how they connect to everyone, and the connections people make to each other through their cars. What other object has this type of power?
