Traverse City, Mich. (Thursday, June 25, 2009) - Beginning in June 2009, Hagerty Insurance, the world’s leading provider of collector vehicle insurance is expanding its operations into Canada. The move will allow Canadian enthusiasts similar insurance products and services as those currently being offered in the United States and the United Kingdom. The organization provides collector car insurance, financing and roadside assistance as well as a variety of hobby information and resources. Hagerty’s Canadian operations will be underwritten by Aviva Canada Inc.
“Collector car enthusiasts in Canada are among the most passionate group there are,” said McKeel Hagerty, CEO of Hagerty Insurance. “In speaking with Canadian collectors at auto shows over the years we realized a true need for our products and services. In partnership with Aviva Canada, we look forward to becoming actively involved in the Canadian collector car community, by providing unique coverages and a host of related services that support the collector lifestyle.”
Maurice Tulloch, Executive Vice President of Broker and Specialty Distribution for Aviva Canada is thrilled to enter into this relationship with Hagerty. “By joining forces with Hagerty, we can now offer our customers greater access to specialty insurance for their collector cars through brokers in the Canadian market,” stated Tulloch.
Featured in Hagerty’s programs are their “Agreed Value” insurance policy, a single liability fee, flexible usage with no mileage restrictions, and ability for enthusiasts to pick their own repair shop in the event of a claim. When Hagerty enters the Alberta market in June, it will be one of the few true collector car specialists in Canada. This initial launch will be followed by British Columbia and Ontario later in the year.
The company will also extend its “Hagerty Plus” program to Canadian enthusiasts. The membership- based program includes benefits such as flatbed towing and roadside assistance, regulatory advocacy, youth programs, and support of the Collectors Foundation—a nonprofit organization helping to preserve the collector car hobby through grants to clubs and museums, and scholarships to accredited colleges with special automotive programs. In addition, members also have access to Hagerty’s online information resources and receive Hagerty’s Magazine, a quarterly publication designed to inform, educate and entertain car enthusiasts everywhere.
Hagerty also publishes Hagerty’s Cars That Matter, a comprehensive guide listing the latest values of collectible vehicles; and Hagerty’s Auction Yearbook, a publication that tracks sales from all major collector car auctions in the world and reports on the pricing trends.
