On Saturday 6th November, Evert Louwman, the distinguished Dutch collector of classic cars was presented with the Hagerty London to Brighton Veteran Car Run Achievement Award. Speaking at Hagerty’s participants cocktail party at the RAC on the eve of the historic veteran car run, Evert Louwman said “I am truly delighted to receive this award. I enjoy aspects of owning classic cars, but this weekend is always a highlight for me and my family.”
Speaking at the award presentation, committee spokesman and Chairman of the RAC, Ben Cussons announced “Evert Louwman has always been integral to the Run. His continued support through the years by bringing some of his most amazing vehicles from his collection has never wavered. He also opened up his own museum for the global launch of the run this year.”
Angus Forsyth, managing director of Hagerty International, commented “Mr. Louwman has shown remarkable determination in his support not only for the Veteran Car Run, but also for motoring history and tradition in general. He is a leading example to the future generations of classic car owners”.
Louwman was also honoured by starting the Run on Sunday 7th November at dawn from Hyde Park. He was the first to start the run in his Darraq, famously named Genevieve, which starred in the 1953 film of the same name, alongside the Darraq’s arch rival from the film, his Dutch built 1903 Spyker.
