Winner Of 2nd Annual ‘Search For America’s Sweetest Lemon’ Awarded Trip To Hagerty’s Tour Of Lemons

1970 Subaru 360, Affectionately Named “Lil’ Cab,” to Lead Hagerty’s Tour of LeMons During Monterey Classic Car Week

TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. (July 25, 2012) – More than 50 oddball cars participating in Hagerty’s Tour of LeMons on Saturday, August 18 will be led by a 1970 Subaru 360 Deluxe sedan, owned by Mindy Kindelberger of Lake Havasu City, Ariz. Mrs. Kindelberger won the opportunity after receiving more than 30% of votes in Hagerty’s 2nd annual Search for America’s ‘Sweetest LeMon’ contest. She will lead the tour as it departs Laguna Grande Park in Seaside, Calif., at 10 a.m.

Hagerty, the world’s leading insurer of classic cars, held the contest to find America’s favorite eccentric automobile.  Owners of unique vehicles submitted photos of their car and a brief description of why it deserved to win.  The top 10 candidates were posted for public vote on Hagerty.com, with the winner receiving an all-expense-paid trip to Hagerty’s Tour of LeMons.

“Everyone in our hometown of Lake Havasu knows me for my car.  People honk, take pictures and wave to me all the time,” Kindelberger says. “My husband and I both love collecting cars, especially the oddballs, which are the ones that always get the most attention.”

The Tour of LeMons gives owners and enthusiasts a chance to enjoy lesser-celebrated vehicles as a counterpoint to the popular and prestigious automotive events that make up “Monterey Classic Car Week” in Northern California every August.

“Regardless of vehicle type, the passion for automobiles is the one thing that ties all classic car enthusiasts together,” says McKeel Hagerty, CEO of Hagerty.  “The Tour of LeMons is a way to celebrate the unique cars that otherwise would not typically be honored.”
