Vehicle details

Notes and observations recorded by Hagerty staff.

Equipment

302 Ford, Hewland LG 500 (68), Webers. Very tired, neglected and Iong (too long) unraced. No history given and in need of comprehensive attention, crack checking and replacement of many soft bits before it can be driven competitively. No Reserve.

Market commentary

This old Eagle would have been a good buy at $45,000; at this price the buyer is probably going to be OK but it will be a near thing. Offered through Christies at Pebble Beach in 1990 where it no saled at $125,000, and even then there was no known racing history. One observer, whod raced against the Gurney team in F5000, thought this might be the first Santa Ana Eagle, to which Gurney had grafted on a Brabham rear frame and suspension to cure handling problems however the rear uprights have AAR cast in them.
